Community Service Program Awards Top Students

The Community Service Program (CSP) at the Boyd School of Law announced its top student awards for the 2007 academic year and the spring 2008 semester. Boyd student Elham Roohani was awarded the CSP Student of the Year for outstanding work throughout the spring, summer and fall 2007 semesters.
All Boyd law students are required to complete a Community Service Requirement by participating in the CSP, which requires that they attend and teach legal education classes for the public or be trained and conduct mediations for the Neighborhood Justice Center (NJC). Many of the students teach classes about small claims court, bankruptcy, paternity and custody, guardianship, and family law on Saturdays or in the evenings.
Each semester, the attorneys who supervise the students' teaching select the top student from each teaching team, someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty. From that group, the CSP Student of the Semester is selected and receives a book scholarship. At the end of each calendar year, one student from the three Students of the Semester is selected as the CSP Student of the Year.
